LESSON #EX14:15
BIBLE QUOTATION: Exodus 14:15
The LORD said to Moses, "Why do you cry to me? Tell the Israelites to go forward

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT LESSON TAUGHT:
Medieval bible commentators, such as Rashi, lend clarity to what was actually transpiring at this critical moment.  The Israelites had finally been freed from hundreds of years of slavery and had followed Moses for 3 days in the desert when they found themselves in an untenable predicament. Moses had been traveling the route commanded by God (Exodus 13:18) which took the Israelites to the shores of the mighty Red Sea.  The defenseless Israelites were sandwiched between the impassable Red Sea and the entire, very formidable Egyptian army – chariots and heavily armed foot soldiers – closing in on them. Although it should have been obvious to Moses that walking into the Red Sea was the escape route, he hesitated at its shores and began praying.  With the situation becoming more critical, God admonishes Moses telling him that it was not the time for extensive prayers, but rather the time for decisive action.

USING THIS BIBLE BUSINESS LESSON:
The most capable and skilled business executives will frequently find themselves in seemingly difficult and complex situations which require decisive actions.  Often, however, the dilemma might seem insurmountable - with all courses of action fraught with problems. A valuable employee may have seriously violated rules but firing him will have a negative impact.  The legacy product line with high consumer recognition is generating ever growing losses.  When faced with similar predicaments, the lessons to be learned from the Bible are not react like a deer caught in headlights but rather, using your experience and God given intellect, decide on a course of action and plunge into the churning waters.
